Yes, we are talking about the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, which is the largest cricket stadium across the globe, with an overall capacity of 132,000 and 114,600 seated. Well, this noted stadium is owned by The Gujarat Cricket Association, and it provides accommodations for both home and overseas cricket matches as well.
In the past, it was called Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, which was demolished in 2015. Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat at that time and GCA President, envisioned a new stadium. Moreover, taking a slight peek into its design and construction, it was designed by Populous and built by Larsen & Toubro (L&T). The stadium has been constructed for ₹800 crore (US$92 million) and opened in 2020. After the remodification, it was inaugurated in 2021 as Narendra Modi Stadium.
Talking about its infrastructure, this place hosts the most reputed cricket matches it is wide, about 63 acres, with four dressing rooms, 11 center pitches, two practice grounds, 76 corporate boxes, a clubhouse of 55 rooms, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and a 3D projector theater. Also, the car parking capacity is 3000, and the two-wheeler parking capacity is 10,000.
Ahmedabad Cricket Stadium has emerged as a symbol of world cricket, eclipsing the Melbourne Cricket Ground in terms of capacity.
